PAIR OF LOUIS XVI STYLE GILTWOOD FAUTEUILS. Circa early 20th century Item # 709AJD23P. An attractive pair of fauteuil arm chairs in the Louis XVI style, they are a product of the first quarter of the 20th century and have all the hallmarks of the Neoclassical taste: tapered fluted legs, angular backs with a half-bowed crest surmounted by carved florals, acanthus carvings on the arm supports and rosettes to the knees. They have a wonderfully worn surface throughout and will look fantastic when they are eventually recovered in new fabric. 39 1/4 H x 21 1/2 D x 23 3/8 W x 15 1/2 H to seat.
Condition Report: Left front leg of one chair (facing) has a slight inward crook, the joints on both chairs being sturdy and strong throughout. Repairs, including some patched repairs to knees and old cracks in arms. Gold paint heavily worn throughout with chipping and rubbing through to the gesso. My name is Andrew Silla and my wife and I own and operate Silla, ltd in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania.
